The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 schedule at a glance

What time does Season 2 premiere in Japan?

The official Season 2 site gives a staggered Japanese schedule. AT-X gets the earliest television slot at 9:30 p.m. JST on October 7. d Anime Store begins streaming at 10:00 p.m. JST, and TOKYO MX follows at 10:30 p.m.

BS Nippon TV uses the late-night Japanese schedule convention and lists the program at 24:30 on the October 7 broadcast night. In ordinary calendar time, that is 12:30 a.m. JST on October 8.

The official Season 2 broadcast page should be treated as the primary source if a station changes its timetable.

When does The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 release on Crunchyroll?

Crunchyroll has confirmed October 7 for the subtitled international premiere. However, the current seasonal lineup still shows the exact time as TBA.

That distinction matters because several search results convert one of the Japanese broadcast times into U.S., UK and European time zones and label those conversions as “Crunchyroll release times.” A timezone conversion is only a confirmed streaming time if Crunchyroll itself says the episode goes live at that moment.

Until that happens, the most accurate answer is: October 7 is confirmed; the precise Crunchyroll clock time is not.

Where will Season 2 stream?

Crunchyroll’s Fall 2026 lineup includes Season 2 in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the CIS and Southeast Asia. Availability can still vary by individual country.

In Japan, d Anime Store gets the earliest announced digital stream at 10:00 p.m. JST on October 7. Additional Japanese services begin later according to the official schedule.

Why was The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 delayed?

Season 2 was originally planned for July 2026. The production committee announced in March that the broadcast would move to October because of production circumstances. The official notice did not provide a more detailed technical explanation.

That delay is why some older search results and calendars still show a summer release window. For current planning, October 7 is the valid premiere date.

What happens in Season 2 Episode 1?

Episode 1 is titled “To See You Once Again”. According to the official story page, Kimihiko Kimizuka, Nagisa Natsunagi, Yui Saikawa and Charlotte Arisaka Anderson are abducted while traveling to visit Siesta’s grave.

At the location where they are held, they are shown a video Siesta recorded about the truth surrounding her death. Nagisa notices an important detail while the group tries to understand the recording — and then Siesta, who is supposed to be dead, appears before them wearing a maid outfit.

The official Episode 1 story page also lists the staff for the premiere and provides the web preview.

Do you need to watch Season 1 first?

Yes, this is a direct second season rather than a reboot. Season 2 continues Kimihiko’s story and immediately deals with Siesta’s death, Nagisa’s connection to her and unresolved mysteries from the first season.

A newcomer can understand the broad setup — Kimihiko once worked with legendary detective Siesta, who later died — but Episode 1 is built around information that has much more impact if you know the Season 1 relationships and revelations.

Who returns in the Season 2 cast?

• Kimihiko Kimizuka: Arata Nagai
• Siesta: Saki Miyashita
• Nagisa Natsunagi: Ayana Taketatsu
• Yui Saikawa: Kanon Takao
• Charlotte Arisaka Anderson: Saho Shirasu

New additions announced for the season include Akari Komiyama as Mia Whitlock and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Scarlett. Manabu Kurihara returns as director at ENGI, with Deko Akao handling series composition.

Season 2 theme songs

40mP is closely involved with the new season’s music. The opening theme is performed with vocals by Kokorone, while the ending theme features Kagura Nana. Official music details can change by region and release service, so soundtrack availability should be checked separately from the anime stream.

When is Episode 2?

The Japanese television schedule is weekly on Wednesdays. If there is no delay, Episode 2 is expected on October 14, 2026 in the same Wednesday broadcast window. The international streaming schedule should be confirmed from Crunchyroll once its exact recurring airtime appears.

The biggest release-time mistake to avoid

The search intent around this premiere is unusually easy to answer incorrectly because Japan has three different first-night times before you even get to international streaming:

• 9:30 p.m. JST — AT-X television
• 10:00 p.m. JST — d Anime Store
• 10:30 p.m. JST — TOKYO MX television

Converting any one of those to Eastern or Pacific Time does not automatically produce the Crunchyroll release time. It only tells you what that specific Japanese channel or service time equals in another zone.
