Quick answer: Several Paris Metro stations will close on Thursday, October 8, 2026 because of security measures requested by the Police Prefecture. RATP says Charles de Gaulle–Étoile and Argentine will be closed from the start of service. From 12:00 p.m., La Chapelle, Barbès–Rochechouart and Jacques Bonsergent will close for a demonstration. Reopening times depend on police authorization.

Why are Charles de Gaulle–Étoile and Argentine closing?

RATP says the first set of closures is linked to an official visit and security measures requested by the Paris Police Prefecture. Charles de Gaulle–Étoile and Argentine will be closed from the start of Metro service on October 8.

At Charles de Gaulle–Étoile, access will be closed, trains will pass through without stopping and normal connections will not be available. RATP’s Line 6 bulletin also states that traffic will be suspended between Kléber and Charles de Gaulle–Étoile.

Which stations close for the October 8 demonstration?

A separate demonstration affects the network from midday. RATP says La Chapelle, Barbès–Rochechouart and Jacques Bonsergent will close from 12:00 p.m. Trains will not stop at the affected stations and connections will not be provided while the restrictions are active.

These closures do not have a fixed reopening time. RATP says stations will reopen only when authorized by the Police Prefecture, so travelers should treat the disruption as open-ended rather than planning around a specific end time.

Which Metro lines are affected?

  • Line 1: Argentine and Charles de Gaulle–Étoile will not be served.
  • Line 2: Charles de Gaulle–Étoile, La Chapelle and Barbès–Rochechouart are affected.
  • Line 6: the section between Kléber and Charles de Gaulle–Étoile is suspended.
  • Connections: interchange options at closed stations will not be available while the security measures remain in force.

What should travelers do?

If your trip normally uses one of the affected stations, allow extra time and route around it before entering the network. Check RATP’s live traffic page again shortly before departure because police-authorized reopening can happen after the original bulletin is published.

For Charles de Gaulle–Étoile, plan a route that avoids using the station as a connection point. If you are traveling around northern Paris after noon, avoid relying on La Chapelle or Barbès–Rochechouart as interchange stations until RATP confirms they have reopened.

Is this a full Paris Metro strike?

No. RATP’s October 8 notices describe targeted security closures connected to an official visit and a demonstration. They do not describe a systemwide Metro shutdown. Most of the network can continue operating, although affected interchange points can create longer journeys.
