Quick answer: Barcelona’s TMB bus network faces strike action on Thursday, October 8, 2026 during three windows: 9:00–11:00, 19:00–21:00 and 23:00 until the end of service. The Catalan government has ordered minimum service of 40% during specified peak periods and 20% during off-peak strike periods.
Barcelona TMB bus strike hours on October 8
Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona says the bus strike is scheduled from 9:00 to 11:00, from 19:00 to 21:00, and from 23:00 until the end of bus service.
The stoppages concern TMB bus operations. TMB’s official notice does not describe this as a Metro strike, so travelers should not assume the same disruption applies across the entire public transport system.
What are the minimum service levels?
The Generalitat has established 40% minimum service during the peak portions from 9:00–9:30 and 19:00–20:00. Minimum service drops to 20% from 9:30–11:00, 20:00–21:00 and from 23:00 until the end of service. Neighborhood bus lines are guaranteed one vehicle per line.
What minimum service means for passengers
A minimum-service percentage does not mean every route will run at exactly that frequency. TMB says actual service can vary depending on strike participation and operational conditions. Short connections are therefore risky, especially around the beginning and end of each stoppage window.
When should travelers allow extra time?
If you have an airport, rail, appointment or attraction connection, build in extra time. Delays can begin before a strike window and continue afterward while vehicles return to normal positions. Compare Metro, regional rail or walking options before leaving where practical.
How to check live Barcelona bus service
TMB says it will provide continuous service updates through its normal information channels, including TMBinfo. Live information matters because the impact can differ by route.
Is Barcelona Metro on strike October 8?
The official notice reviewed for this guide concerns TMB bus operations and does not list Metro service as part of the announced strike. Separate operational issues can still occur, so check live notices before travel.
