How to Join a Group in Roblox: Communities, Approval and Mobile Steps
To join a group in Roblox, open Communities in the Roblox app or website, find the community you want, open its page, and choose Join Community. Roblox now calls many of the player groups you may remember communities. Some let you join immediately; others require an owner or moderator to approve your request. You do not need to create a new community to join someone else’s.
If the Join button does not work, the community may require approval or additional account verification. Below are the official paths and the most useful checks.
How to join a Roblox group on PC or in a browser
- Sign in at the official Roblox website with the account you want to use.
- Choose Communities in the left navigation. If the menu is collapsed, expand it or look for the community search area.
- Search for the community name, or follow a trustworthy direct link to its Roblox community page.
- Check the community’s name, description and members so you are joining the intended one, not an impersonator.
- Select Join Community. If the community uses manual approval, your request may stay pending until someone with permission accepts it.
These steps follow Roblox’s current Finding and Joining a Community help page. Menus may be laid out differently on a narrow browser window, but you should not need to enter your password into a separate website.
How to join a Roblox community on iPhone or Android
- Open the Roblox mobile app and sign in.
- Tap the More button, typically shown as three dots, at the bottom or side of the app depending on your device.
- Choose Communities.
- Find the community by name, select it, and use Join Community if available.
- Follow any account-verification instructions Roblox itself displays, or wait for a moderator’s decision when approval is required.
If you do not see the community immediately, Roblox says its community search may be available near the My Communities area. App labels can shift between releases, so check both the More section and the Communities screen rather than searching an in-game menu.
Why your Roblox group join request may be pending
Community owners can enable Manual Approval. When that setting is active, tapping Join Community sends a request instead of immediately adding your account. Owners or authorized staff can review it under their community administration settings. You cannot force a private or approval-only community to accept you.
Roblox also lets a community set verification requirements. Depending on the selected level, your account may need a verified email, phone number or identity check before you can request entry. Roblox describes its four levels as None, Low, Medium and High in its official Join Requirements for Communities guidance.
Do not send identity documents, security codes, or your password to a community owner as a workaround. Any required Roblox identity verification should happen only through the official Roblox process.
Join button missing or unavailable? Check these possibilities
- You are already a member: the community page may show member controls rather than the same join action.
- Approval is required: a request may have been sent even though membership is not active yet.
- Verification is required: follow the official prompt to verify the account at the community’s required level.
- You have reached the membership limit: Roblox’s help information lists a limit of 100 communities a player may join. Consider leaving an unused community if you are at that limit.
- The link leads somewhere else: check that the URL belongs to Roblox before logging in. An invitation posted in a chat is not proof the destination is safe.
- You cannot access this particular community: owners can manage membership and restrict or ban accounts. Contact its moderators through normal community channels rather than creating alternate accounts to evade restrictions.
These are checks, not a diagnosis of your specific account. If an error persists across devices, consult Roblox Support for the current account rules.
Roblox group vs. community vs. party: what is different?
In Roblox usage, group is still a familiar informal term for a shared player organization. Roblox’s current interface and documentation label this feature Community. A community can have members, roles, an information page, and experiences associated with it.
A Party is different: it is designed for playing or socializing with invited participants rather than becoming a member of an ongoing community. Joining a player’s community does not necessarily invite you into their current game session or grant access to every private server.
If your goal is actually to host a space for friends, read our guide to creating a Roblox group or community. If your issue is joining a game instance, see Roblox private-server settings and invitations.
How to leave a Roblox community
Open the Communities section, select the community in your memberships, and look for Leave Community in its controls or menu. Be careful if you own the community: Roblox’s support documentation warns that leaving a community you own without transferring ownership can permanently affect ownership. Do not use this as a quick fix unless you understand what you are leaving.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Roblox say Community instead of Group?
Roblox’s help pages and interface now use Community for the organizational feature many players call groups. Guides using the older term may still describe the same basic idea, but the menu label you should look for is Communities.
Can you join a Roblox group without approval?
Yes, when that community allows immediate joins and your account meets its entry conditions. Approval-only communities require the owner or an authorized staff member to accept your request.
Can you join a Roblox group from a game?
Some experiences may link to their associated community, but the official, repeatable route is through the community page in Roblox. Verify the community name before joining, especially when a game’s chat includes a promotional link.
How many Roblox communities can one account join?
Roblox’s official community-creation guidance currently lists a membership limit of 100. Account features and limits can change, so check Roblox’s help center if the platform shows you a different limit.
