How to Make a Roblox Group (Community): Cost, Setup and Roles
To make a Roblox group, open the Communities section in Roblox, choose Create, add a name, description and emblem, select joining permissions, and confirm the 100 Robux creation payment. Roblox now labels this feature Communities, so older guides calling the button ‘Groups’ may not match the current interface. This article explains the official setup steps and important decisions to make before paying.

Create a Roblox Community on a computer
- Sign in to your own account on the official Roblox website.
- Choose Communities from the left navigation. An older interface or tutorial may use the term Groups.
- Select Create and enter your Community’s name, description and emblem.
- Open the entry settings and choose whether anyone can join or requests require approval. Pick Manual Approval when you want control over who enters.
- Review the name, branding and settings carefully. Select Purchase to pay the creation fee and finalize the Community.
Roblox’s own instructions place the payment at the end of setup. Since you cannot simply delete a Community afterward, avoid temporary joke names and assets you have not cleared for use.
Create a Community in the Roblox mobile app
Open the app and tap More (the three-dot menu, which may be along the bottom or side depending on the app version). Find Communities, select Create and complete the same information and payment steps. If the controls do not appear, check whether the app is updated and compare the Roblox web interface; do not share credentials with a third-party group-creation service.
Choose a name, description and emblem that work
A good Community name should identify its activity: a specific game, building team, creator studio or player-interest group. Use a short, accurate description stating the purpose, moderation expectations and who should join. Choose an emblem you own or have rights to display. Roblox enforces content standards for Community branding, so do not impersonate an official Roblox team or another creator.
Public joining versus manual approval
Open joining makes the group easier to enter and can fit a casual fan club. Manual Approval helps a small developer team, roleplay group or moderated community review requests before admitting someone. Neither setting replaces active moderation. Decide whether younger players may participate, appoint trusted people to review requests, and keep private information out of public description fields.
Set up Community roles and permissions
After creation, visit the Community page and choose Configure Community from its controls. Roblox lists settings for information, member ranks and roles, social links, revenue, member actions and audit logs. Begin with the fewest elevated permissions necessary. One person should not have broad administrative abilities merely because they helped with an emblem or invited initial members.
If your Community will sell items or distribute earned Robux, use documented revenue permissions and check our Roblox group payouts guide before involving teammates.
What to check before buying
- Spell the Community name correctly, then read it aloud. Roblox limits how often a Community name can be changed.
- Confirm you are logged in to the account that should own the Community.
- Use an emblem that can be displayed publicly without copyright or impersonation concerns.
- Decide on joining rules and who will moderate requests before you invite users.
- Do not confuse a Roblox private server with a Community. A private server controls access to an experience session; a Community is a membership and management space.
