How to Gift the Fortnite Battle Pass: Requirements, Price and Missing Gifts
To gift a Fortnite Battle Pass, open the Passes tab in Fortnite, choose the pass you want to send, select Gift the Pass, choose an eligible friend and complete the in-game purchase. Epic says Battle Pass gift purchases generally use the offered real-money gift process, not V-Bucks. Both accounts must meet gifting eligibility requirements, and gifts are not refundable. If the gift option disappears near the end of a season, that may be intentional. Check the currently displayed checkout price rather than relying on an old USD figure, because pricing and available passes can change.
Gift the Battle Pass in Fortnite step by step
- Open Fortnite using the Epic account that will pay for the gift.
- From the lobby, select the Passes tab.
- Choose Battle Pass or another eligible pass page, depending on what you want to gift.
- Look for Gift the Pass or Gift Battle Pass. If you do not own a pass, the interface may first display Get Pass and require further selection.
- Choose the recipient from the eligible friends list. Double-check their Epic display name.
- Review the amount, payment method, restrictions and refund policy before paying.
- Complete the purchase and tell the recipient to sign in to claim the gift.
These steps are based on Epic’s gifting instructions. Epic also documents how to resend an eligible Pass Gift if it was purchased but never delivered. You cannot simply move a Battle Pass you already own from your account to a friend’s account.
Can you buy a Fortnite Battle Pass gift with V-Bucks?
No, not using the normal Battle Pass gift workflow. Epic states that a Battle Pass gift is a real-money purchase through its in-game gifting flow; V-Bucks are not accepted as payment for the Battle Pass gift voucher. V-Bucks may be used to buy certain passes or items for yourself depending on the current purchase rules, but that is not the same as gifting a pass to another account.
Some older tutorials show the Battle Pass costing a fixed number of V-Bucks and conclude that you can send that exact amount. That confuses a self-purchase with a gift purchase. Follow the payment options shown by your current Fortnite gifting checkout.
Fortnite Battle Pass gifting requirements
| Requirement | Why it matters | How to check |
|---|---|---|
| 2FA enabled | Epic’s gifting feature requires account security protections | Confirm two-factor authentication on the sender’s correct Epic account |
| Epic friendship | Gifting generally requires the recipient to have been an Epic friend for the required period | Check that the two accounts have been friends for at least 48 hours where required |
| Eligible recipient | A friend may already own the pass or have account restrictions | Review the friend selection and any in-game error |
| Gifting availability | Epic turns off pass gifting as a season ends | Look for the button during the current season |
| Supported payment | A Battle Pass gift is not paid in V-Bucks | Review the checkout’s real-money options |
| Gift frequency | Fortnite has an applicable daily limit on gifts | Check official gifting restrictions before retrying |
For the current feature rules and restrictions, consult Epic: why the Battle Pass gifting option is missing and its linked general gifting rules. Don’t bypass 2FA or parental settings to send gifts.
Why you cannot see “Gift the Pass”
First check the current pass page and whether the game is late in the season. Epic says pass gifting is disabled near the end of a season. Second, review the sender’s 2FA status and friendship eligibility. Epic specifically suggests switching the currently selected 2FA method in some cases where the gifting option is missing despite meeting other criteria. Do not disable security permanently: configure a valid method and keep it active.
Third, make sure the recipient is eligible and does not already own the pass. The absence of the button is not necessarily an Epic-wide server outage. It can be a normal account-specific restriction.
Sent a Battle Pass gift but friend did not receive it?
Epic offers a resend process when a giftable Pass purchase was completed but delivery did not happen:
- Open Fortnite and go back to the Passes tab.
- Find the pass you previously purchased as a gift.
- Select Gift the Pass.
- Choose the same intended eligible recipient.
- Check that the checkout shows no price if the prior gift token remains unused.
- Confirm the resend only when you understand what the screen says.
This sequence is described by Epic’s missing-Pass-Gift guide. Epic says an unused pass gift token may be refunded as V-Bucks at the end of the current season. A former Fortnite Crew subscriber may present a special eligibility case if they previously received and completed the pass. Don’t make a second paid purchase before checking whether a no-price resend is available.
Can you gift the Fortnite Crew subscription?
The Battle Pass and Fortnite Crew are different products. The pass is a seasonal reward entitlement; Crew is a recurring subscription with separate billing conditions. Do not assume the Battle Pass’s Gift the Pass button sends a Crew subscription. If you are choosing a gift for someone, carefully identify the product and read the current Epic checkout disclosures.
What other passes can you gift?
Epic support references eligible Battle, LEGO and Festival passes and in some versions of its instructions OG and Music pass labels. The available pass catalog changes. Only gift a pass the current Fortnite interface expressly labels as giftable; some subscriptions, tiers or promotions cannot be sent.
Can you refund a gifted Battle Pass?
Epic states that gifts are non-refundable. This makes recipient selection essential. In particular, sending a gift to the wrong account because of a similar display name is not something you should expect Epic to reverse. Review the name, product and total charge before confirmation.
FAQ
Can I give a friend the Battle Pass I already own?
No. Gifting is a separate purchase for an eligible recipient; you do not transfer your own pass.
How long must someone be my friend?
Epic’s general gifting feature normally requires you to be friends for at least two days. Verify the current game’s specific requirements.
What if the recipient already owns the Battle Pass?
They may be ineligible to receive it, including complicated Crew-pass cases. Epic’s error guidance explains what to check.
Will gift options return next season?
Season-end restrictions are normal; check the next season’s in-game eligibility and available passes rather than assume a guaranteed schedule.
Do I have to enable 2FA to gift a pass?
Yes. Epic lists 2FA among the standard conditions for Fortnite gifting.
