Crystal Lake Release Date: Episodes, Cast & Peacock Guide

Quick answer: Crystal Lake, Peacock and A24’s Friday the 13th prequel series, premieres Thursday, October 15, 2026. Peacock and NBCUniversal confirm that all eight episodes will be available together rather than releasing weekly. Linda Cardellini leads the series as Pam Voorhees, with Callum Vinson appearing as young Jason Voorhees.

Crystal Lake release details

The most useful new detail for viewers planning a binge is the release format. NBCUniversal’s October 5 announcement says all eight episodes premiere on October 15. That means viewers will not have to wait for a weekly rollout to reach the season finale.

What time will Crystal Lake release on Peacock?

Peacock has confirmed the date but has not published a specific universal streaming hour in its current official announcement. Because streaming services can vary release timing by title, AVARIXO is not assigning an exact hour without a first-party confirmation. The safest approach is to treat October 15 as confirmed and check the live Peacock title page when the date arrives.

What is Crystal Lake about?

Crystal Lake goes back before the familiar slasher story and centers on Pam Voorhees. The official synopsis describes Pam as a single mother struggling with the death of her young, sickly son Jason, who drowned in the town lake almost a year earlier. When two strangers arrive and begin digging into Pam’s past, a disturbing chain of events begins around the town.

That framing makes the show an origin story for the Voorhees family rather than a simple recreation of the original 1980 Friday the 13th film. It also gives the series room to explore Pam’s grief and the community around Crystal Lake before the mythology viewers already know fully takes shape.

Crystal Lake cast

NBCUniversal lists the main cast as:

• Linda Cardellini as Pam Voorhees
• William Catlett
• Devin Kessler
• Cameron Scoggins
• Gwendolyn Sundstrom

The recurring cast includes Callum Vinson, who plays young Jason Voorhees, along with Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch and Phoenix Parnevik.

Who made the series?

Brad Caleb Kane created, wrote and executive produces Crystal Lake. He also serves as showrunner. The series comes from A24 and Peacock. Directing duties are split across the season: Michael Lennox directs Episodes 1–3, Celine Held and Logan George direct Episodes 4–6, and Quyen Tran directs Episodes 7–8.

Kane’s involvement is notable for horror viewers because he previously worked as co-showrunner on IT: Welcome to Derry, another series built around expanding the history of a famous horror property.

Is Crystal Lake a remake of Friday the 13th?

No. It is a prequel series. The official story takes place before the events audiences associate with the main Friday the 13th films and focuses on Pam Voorhees and the circumstances around Jason’s drowning.

That distinction matters because viewers should not expect a scene-for-scene television remake of the first movie. The series is positioned as an expansion of the mythology, using the town and family history to tell a longer story.

Will every episode really be available on October 15?

Yes, based on the latest first-party information. NBCUniversal’s October 5 release explicitly says all eight episodes will stream exclusively on Peacock beginning October 15. Peacock’s own coverage also identifies the show as an eight-episode series.

What to watch while you wait

October is unusually crowded for horror and streaming releases. If you are tracking major premieres, AVARIXO also has a guide to Carrie on Prime Video, another high-profile horror adaptation arriving this month.
