Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX: Xbox Release and Price

Quick answer: KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- releases for the new Xbox Series X|S / Microsoft Store package on October 8, 2026 for $39.99 in the US. The Xbox listing supports Xbox Play Anywhere, 4K Ultra HD, 60 fps+, Xbox cloud saves and PC/handheld play. Players who preorder by 11:59 p.m. on October 7 are promised 48 hours of early access.

This is the six-story 1.5+2.5 collection, not the larger KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] bundle. The larger bundle costs $74.99 on the US Xbox Store and also includes HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue plus KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. If you only want the earlier saga, 1.5+2.5 is the cheaper standalone purchase.

Release date, price and platforms

The first-party Xbox Store page is the best place to verify regional pricing and the exact entitlement shown on your account.

What is included in KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX?

The collection bundles four playable games and two HD cinematic compilations that cover major parts of the series’ early timeline.

1. KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX — playable
2. KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories — playable
3. KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX — playable
4. KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days — HD cutscene compilation
5. KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX — playable
6. KINGDOM HEARTS Re:coded — HD cutscene compilation

That distinction matters if you are buying the collection expecting six fully playable games. 358/2 Days and Re:coded are included as cinematic story presentations rather than complete remastered playable releases.

How the 48-hour early access works

The Xbox Store says players who preorder by 11:59 p.m. on October 7, 2026 receive 48 hours of early access. Because the official release is October 8, eligible preorders can already be inside the early-access period before the preorder deadline closes.

The store wording does not require buyers to calculate a universal global unlock time. If you have preordered, check your library and the game’s store page on the account that made the purchase. Regional storefront timing can differ, and the store entitlement is more reliable than a countdown posted by a third-party site.

Xbox Play Anywhere is the biggest practical upgrade

Xbox Play Anywhere means a qualifying digital purchase can be used across Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC under the same Microsoft account without buying the game twice. The Xbox page also lists cloud saves, so supported progress can follow the account between those devices.

This is especially useful for players using newer Windows handhelds. You can play on the console, continue on a compatible PC or handheld, then return to Xbox without treating the two versions as completely separate purchases.

Is this the same as KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III]?

No. The $39.99 1.5+2.5 package is one part of the larger $74.99 KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III].

If you are new to the franchise and intend to play through the entire modern saga, the larger bundle can be more economical than buying all three packages individually. If you already own KH III or HD 2.8 elsewhere, the standalone 1.5+2.5 release may be the cleaner choice.

What does 4K and 60 fps+ mean here?

The Xbox Store lists the new package with 4K Ultra HD and 60 fps+ capabilities. Actual output still depends on your display, console and specific scene. The capability label is useful because it identifies this as a current-generation-optimized release rather than simply an unchanged older Xbox One listing.

Players who already own an older version should compare the new store page against what they have installed before purchasing again. Square Enix is releasing the collection across current-generation platforms at the same time, and there are multiple bundles with very similar names.

Do not accidentally buy the same content twice

The Xbox Store itself warns that 1.5+2.5 is included in other bundle sets. Before buying:

• Check whether you already own KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III].
• Check your existing Xbox library for the older KINGDOM HEARTS packages.
• Compare the standalone $39.99 edition with the $74.99 collection.
• If you are on PC, make sure you are comparing the Microsoft Store release with any Steam copy you may already own.

Xbox Play Anywhere applies within Microsoft’s ecosystem; it does not turn a Steam purchase into an Xbox entitlement.

Which game should you start with?

For a first playthrough, the simplest release-order path begins with KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX, then Re:Chain of Memories and KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX. The cinematic compilation for 358/2 Days fills in important character and organization context, while Birth by Sleep explores earlier events in the timeline.

Chronological order is possible, but release order usually preserves how mysteries and reveals were originally designed. Newcomers should also remember that the collection’s names are awkward: 1.5+2.5 is a compilation label, not a mathematical sequel number.

Is this release on Game Pass?

The Xbox Store listing confirms the product for purchase and Xbox Play Anywhere but does not label the standalone 1.5+2.5 package as a day-one Game Pass inclusion. Do not assume Xbox Play Anywhere means Game Pass; those are different programs.
